The inspector said I have to protect my outside stair stringers from the concrete on the outside landing. What does he mean?
If the stringers are not of pressure treated wood, they must be protected from the concrete either with a Copper Napthenate preservative or with a layer of mineral felt roofing or with sill gasket, a styrofoam type of material made to go under 2x4's and 2x6's. My choice is the sill gasket, available at building supply stores.
Wood on concrete just rots because it never dries out and bugs love damp wood.
