Attaching Treads to Stringers

Question

With an open riser stair, how do you connect the treads to the stringer?

Answer

On outside stairs I use 3" galvanized casing nails or 3" screws to hold the treads of 1" to 1 1/2" stock down. On inside stairs I use nails or screws and glue.
